Chichester

The old city of Chichester is packed inside the well preserved Roman city walls, yet there are unusually fine areas of park and gardens to appreciate. The four main streets radiate out like a compass, following the Roman and medieval plan.  It is also rich in culture and is internationally recognised for its attractions, including Fishbourne Roman Palace, Chichester Festival Theatre, Pallant House Gallery, Tangmere Military Aviation Museum, and Chichester Cathedral, to name just a few.

 

 Goodwood

Goodwood gives visitors the opportunity to experience historic architecture and beautiful interiors of Goodwood House, which has been the seat of the Dukes of Richmond and Gordon for over three hundred years.

World renowned as a sporting estate, Goodwood has a spectacular range of sporting activities including horseracing, motor racing, golf, flying, and shooting, as well as attracting over half a million visitors each year to its Festival events; The Festival of Speed, The Goodwood Revival and the Glorious Goodwood Horseracing event.

 

Arundel

The nearby market town of Arundel is full of history and heritage, and contemporary culture.  Many people will know Arundel for its two famous landmarks, Arundel Castle and Arundel Cathedral, which dominate its impressive skyline.

Each year Arundel also plays host to some of Sussex’s most popular events, including Arundel Festival, ten days in August;  Arundel Cathedral’s Feast of Corpus Christi and Arundel by Candlelight.You can shop at independent retailers, antique markets and art galleries in the Georgian and Victorian town centre or eat out overlooking the River Arun in a pretty waterside pub or cafe.

  

National Trust

Local historic properties, gardens and grounds to visit include: Uppark, Petworth, Hinton Ampner, Nymans, Wakehurst Place and Sheffield Park.

 

Getting Around

There is convenient public transport with regular bus services to the local beaches, Brighton, etc.

The train station is a 12 minute walk from the house with regular trains to London (90 minutes), Brighton, Portsmouth, Southampton, etc

Gatwick Airport is only one hour away by car or direct train; Heathrow is 90 minutes by car.
